Brian is a graduate of the Physician Assistant Program at Stanford University. He has been with CK Derm Redding since 2005, specializing in medical and surgical dermatology services under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Kraffert.
Brian brings a diverse experience in the field of medicine to CK Derm patients. He graduated from Albright College in Reading, PA with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Brian worked as a paramedic for the City of San Francisco Emergency Medical Services for 14 years. In 1991 he was awarded Paramedic of the Year. After graduating from Stanford’s Physician Assistant program in 1995, Brian transitioned from the arena of emergency pre-hospital care to family practice, and spent years dedicated to serving the primary healthcare needs of migrant farm workers and other underserved groups in the San Joaquin Valley.
Since 2001, Brian has specialized in dermatology. He maintains his proficiency through Dr. Kraffert’s ongoing mentoring and affiliations with colleagues in the Society of Dermatology PAs, AAPA, and by attending national dermatology educational meetings. Every 6 years he is required to pass a national certification exam which tests general medical knowledge.
Brian mirrors Dr. Kraffert’s passion for excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions. When you see Brian, you can expect that he will spend the extra time you need during your office visit to help you better understand your skin problems and treatment plans. Here at CK Derm, he is especially interested in the more challenging acne cases and the management of psoriasis. Brian also provides vascular laser treatment for facial veins and is the provider at our outreach office in Mt Shasta.
Brian lives in Redding with his wife, Peggy and two lovable terrier rescue dogs. In addition to his professional and academic duties, Brian loves cooking and golf and plays a fairly good game of tennis. In 2007 he earned his FAA private pilot license.
