Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer and also the easiest to detect. At CK Derm, we conduct skin checks to diagnose and treat all skin cancers.
A routine skin check is one of the easiest and most effective early skin cancer detection methods, providing CK Derm dermatology providers the opportunity to discuss any concerning skin issues.

Bacterial & Fungal
Infection Treatment
Skin offers resistance to infection by bacteria and fungi, but sometimes infections do occur. As with all things in dermatology, the key to overcoming the infections that do occur is customized treatment based on accurate diagnosis.
Mole Removal
Almost everyone has moles, but sometimes, if they’re irritated by clothing or if you just don’t want them, it’s best to remove them. At Medford Derm, we remove moles via shave or excision.
Shave removal is common and produces optimal results in most cases. Injectable lidocaine anesthetic prevents pain, and raises and firms the surgical site. A lubricated cosmetic scalpel is then used to incise raised mole tissue flush with surrounding skin. If this technique is used, it’s possible that cells below the removal site surface may cause re-elevation or dark re-pigmentation. These side effects are particularly problematic for younger or more darkly pigmented patients.
Because of these limitations, ‘elliptical’ excision of moles with underlying skin (to prevent skin puckering) is sometimes recommended. We use this technique for those at high risk of mole regrowth, re-pigmentation, or uneven post-treatment skin contours. In younger patients, elliptical excisions may result in scarring.
Excellent clinical judgment and meticulous surgical skills are the key prerequisites for optimal mole evaluation and removal results.
Mechanical destruction and destruction caused by immune system stimulation are usually the two ways warts are treated. Sometimes wart removal can be challenging. It may not even be necessary. At Medford Derm, we work to minimize or avoid the scarring that may occur from wart removal procedures.
At Medford Derm, we also remove moles that may be melanoma. Melanoma may evolve within a mole but typically develops on normal skin. People with many large and irregular moles are at greater melanoma risk.
Deciding whether or not a mole is suspicious enough for biopsy and then removal is a delicate art and science. Come to Medford Derm for both.
